The Art of Loving is dedicated to improving all aspects of our sexuality, and an important part of this is political action.
Along with many other individuals and groups, we are working to dismantle a toxic social system which generates negative attitudes towards human sexuality. This system operates daily and usually unconsciously in most families, religion, schools, media and governments. Though we often may not recognize our sex-negative attitudes, few of us are free of them.
To get an overview of the anti-sexual system in our midst, read the Introduction to The Politics of Lust, by The Art of Loving co-owner, John Ince. See also the book's Table of Contents. The book has been praised by sexual authorities as diverse as sexual scientists, sex therapists, sex media personalities and porn stars. See the The The Politics of Lust Reviews. If you want to buy the book, go here. John and his sex-positive activism is the subject of a cover feature in the December 2005 issue of the Georgia Straight titled Sexual Freedom Fighter.
The Art of Loving is involved in several political projects targeting unhealthy institutional action against sexuality. We will keep you posted as the projects unfold.
