Making Erotic Art History in Canada
MARTIN GUDERNA - LABYRINTH 69 - June 23rd to August 20th, 2003
The opening of the exhibition featured the performance art event Public Sex,
Art & Democracy, which breaks exciting new ground in North American art and
theatre history because it includes a scene of a couple actually making
love. During the event Martin Guderna transcribes the eroticism of the
performers onto a canvas using a technique never before performed in front
of a live audience. The explicit erotic acts are both an intrinsic part of
the artistic creation and of the message of the performance, which is to
question why the artistic display of loving sexuality is so frightening to
so many in our society.

Act 2 - Primal Painting
Tanya and Dana embrace, and Martin begins applying paint to their bodies.
