If you come in for Ben Wa Balls and a butt plug, I know what you've been reading.

I haven’t read 50 Shades of Grey yet, and I’m not sure I plan to. It feels like I’m in the middle of the Twilight craze all over again, with everyone around me either blaming a book for the end of the world or insisting it deserves a Pulitzer while I’m in the corner with more interest its cultural significance than in the book itself.

It’s really exciting to me that people are reading something that’s basically erotica on the bus and no one bats an eye. I’d like to think it’s a step in a more sex-positive direction for us as a culture, whether you’re a fan of the book or not.

That being said, today a woman told me, “You can tell it’s written by a perimenopausal woman.” Another called it "50 Shades of Vanilla". I’m starting to think I’d rather read 500 pages of reviews from our customers than the book itself.
