Lifelong Sexiness

I am really, really happy to have grown up with an open-minded family who has always been honest and direct about sex. I mean really-really. Every day at The Art of Loving, I meet people who listen to my advice and who offer me some of their own. What I am painfully noticing is the number of adults who have never had the opportunity to talk about sexual health in an open, comprehensive environment.

I wasn’t sure if it was my imagination being pulled by an automatic rebellion of the older generation or if the boomers were still widely suffering from the general lack of sexual health information provided in their youth. I did a little bit of research and according to the data provided by the (American) Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, reported cases of syphilis and chlamydia among people 55 and older increased 43 percent between 2004 and 2009. In areas where retirees have built large communities, the reported cases have almost doubled.

I have two messages attached to this post. First, thank goodness for the boomers and their bonobo-like communities of sexiness! I think it sets an awesome example for happy living. Second, if you, at whatever age you may be, have questions about sex or if you feel that you’ve missed out on some of the basics, pop into the Art of Loving and ask away! If you have a medical question that we cannot answer, we can refer you to someone who can. Also, if you get bored of us blabbing on about condoms, we have them all blown up for you to giggle at.
