My First Sex Toy Guide

About your first toy...
So it’s your first time getting a toy, it’s really confusing with all the stuff on the market, you’re not sure what you even like at this point and don’t want to spend a bunch on something you might not like… Worry not. We are here to walk you through what you need to know!
First things first, the material. Silicone, stainless steel, and borosilicate glass are the SAFEST materials for your insides. The most important thing about these materials is that they are non-porous, this means there are no hidden cracks or holes that will harbour and absorb bacteria. Because of the stability of these materials, they will last you a long time.
Anything that says “jelly” or “cyberskin” (anything that doesn’t say silicone) is made of plastic and will eventually disintegrate and leak stuff into your body. This material also loves to become a bacteria sponge. If you’re on a budget, you can pop a condom on these guys.
Now we have to pick what material you want. This one is pretty easy, if you want something softer go with silicone. If you prefer more pressure (being able to really hit spots you like), you can go for metal or glass. Silicone has different firmness too. Some products online may say what firmness the silicone is, some don’t. Just check the product bio.
We recommend you go into a physical store to get a feel for what you like before you buy.
Okay, but how do I know if I want a vibrator, suction toy, dildo, or something in-between?
This is a question we as staff can’t really answer perfectly. It really depends on what you like, of course. If you like penetration with no frills, get a straight up dildo. If you like clitoral stimulation, get a vibrator. If you love receiving oral stimulation with a bit of suction, get a suction vibrator. You get the point. There are also toys that have multiple functions. Unfortunately, sometimes we don’t know what we like unless we try it. In this economy? And sex toys are pretty pricy! Don’t worry. Bigger online companies often have deals going on. Obviously we’d prefer if you support local small businesses in your area, but we also understand that life is difficult. So we would prefer you get something body-safe within your budget. We’re going to link good beginner toys under $100 for you and would appreciate it if you checked us out. All of these will have BC taxes included.
Beginner bullet vibrators:
Zee by Dame - $50.35 – A vibe that starts very gentle. If you are more sensitive, we recommend the Dame brand.
Eggplant Emojibator Vibe by Dame - $55.95 – A bit more kick than the Zee, a lot more fun shaped.
Swan Mini by BMS - $87.36 – Has a lot of kick, just one button, no patterns. While we call it a bullet since she is little, the curve is made for insertion.
Beginner insertables:
Utopia by Dildolls - $72.75 – Soft silicone dildo with a bit of give but not too stiff. This one is the colour we sell the most of, there are other super pretty colours too. Big reliable suction cup.
ILY Wand by Je Joue - $67.15 – Insertable vibrator with a warming feature. The head is padded with super squishy silicone.
Beginner suction toys:
The Rose by Inya - $78.35 – The TikTok favourite suction toy. IF you love suction stimulation this will be a nice surprise!
If you’re still a little lost and would like more personal help, come in to the shop for a visit. If you are shy, we recommend coming earlier in the day since it’s quieter. We cannot guarantee that your first toy will be the perfect toy of your life, as all our bodies and needs are different, but we are here to make sure you make the best educated choice for yourself. Bring your questions and see you soon.
