Going (Almost) Topless

Wanna leave a little to the imagination- but not too much? Maybe consider some chest adornments.
You probably know what nipple pasties are- adhesive patches or coverings applied directly to the nipples for coverage when not wearing a top, and to prevent nipples from showing through clothing, such as sheer, backless, or tight-fitting clothes. Available in different materials like silicone, fabric, and other options, pasties can be reusable or disposable and are used for aesthetic, modesty, or to provide physical comfort by preventing chafing. As an alternative to bras, they function pretty well, though don’t expect any support from them. Because of the very ethos of the pastie, you probably don’t notice them in public much- unless you’re at a pride parade or a drag show, or a variety of other places where people are going almost topless. Where did this idea come from though- why are these curious little circles even a thing?
Early versions of the pastie were worn by belly dancers and exotic performers at the 1893 World's Fair. These were small metal plates covering the front of the breasts, and were often decorated with gems or metallic details where the nipples would be. However, the modern form of the pastie first appeared in burlesque and striptease in the 1920s as a way to avoid breaking the law by performing topless or nude. Pasties came to be regarded by some as more aesthetic and erotic as they developed into a way of drawing attention to the breasts and nipples. They were specifically worn in cabarets in the 1920s and 1930s. At that time there was a shift away from pasties decorated with tassels or gems toward nipple-like pasties, making the appearance of nudity more realistic. Skin-tone fabric was used, with a bead at the centre to represent the nipple. From the early 1930s burlesque performers typically wore pasties and a G-string, undressing to these as the final reveal of a striptease.
In the modern day, pasties are often worn at music festivals and raves, where they are worn alone or under tops that are low cut, open-fronted or made of sheer fabric. They often appear in decorative shapes and designs such as hearts, stars, flowers, aliens or mushrooms. They are also worn at pride parades, at fetish parties, and in night clubs.
Which brings us to the final recommendation- try out some pasties today! Regardless of gender or breast/chest size, pasties are a fun way to accessorize and provide a little bit of mystique when going (almost) topless.
