We are aware of the different types of de-stressors that people have recommended to us in the past. From lavender to a walk in the forest, but did you know there is another option to help you reduce stress?

According to the University of British Columbia, a psychological study found that the scent of your partner could help you reduce your stress levels. This study asked their participant’s partners to wear a shirt for a while and afterwards compare the reaction of the participant’s stress levels from a stranger’s shirt versus partner. Results indicated increased endorphins, and dopamine levels, and a decrease in cortisol levels.

So, if you ever feel the need to de-stress, perhaps grab an old shirt from your partner(s), and take a whiff, enjoy the scent of someone who loves you.
