Why Metal Sex Toys?

The classic sex toy material is of course silicone- but what does the world of metal toys actually offer us?
Though ostensibly simpler than any kind of plastics, metal toys are far less common than their silicone counterparts. The price and weight of metal makes it slightly less accessible at times- so why bother? What about a metal toy is worth the extra weight?
First and foremost, metal (typically either stainless steel or aluminum) is completely non-porous, meaning it has no microscopic cracks or tiny holes to harbor bacteria, mold, or odors. Because they are non-porous and can withstand high temperatures, metal toys are very easy to sanitize. Many can be thoroughly washed with antibacterial toy cleaner or even placed in hot water or a dishwasher. Metal also quickly adapts to temperature, allowing for thermal stimulation. You can run a metal toy under warm water (or soak it in warm water) for a comforting heat, or chill it in the refrigerator or ice water for a cold sensation. Unlike lightweight materials like silicone or plastic, metal toys are substantial and heavy. This extra weight allows you to use gravity and momentum for deeper, grounded, or hands-free sensations (such as with metal anal plugs). And, metal is completely inert and safe to use with any type of lubricant (water-based, silicone-based, or oil-based) without damaging or degrading the material. This makes it ideal for anal play, since you can safely use silicone lube with a metal toy.
Metal toys are also virtually indestructible compared to jelly, rubber, or latex, which degrade, crack, or become sticky over time- a quality metal toy can last a lifetime if properly cared for. Most metal toys do not have motors, batteries, or electronic parts, making them 100% silent during use. And, metal offers a completely firm, unyielding structure that some users prefer for targeted G-spot or prostate massage, where flexing or bending is undesirable. Just be aware if traveling with a metal sex toy that it can/will set off any metal detectors, and if it’s large enough, may be confiscated. Stay on guard!
