To shave or not to shave? That is the question for you to answer, only. In a world of social media influencers that have spent hundreds on laser, if not thousands, the beauty standard seems to be ever changing. This isn’t a new problem. Beauty standards fluctuate every year, every decade, every century, every millennium. Sometimes looking like a corpse is in and sometimes looking like a different race is trendy. Though it seems that body hair has always held some notion of “unhygienic.”
I believe the only “unhygienic” thing about anyone’s body is if they cannot maintain basic hygiene for whatever reason. Sometimes it’s difficult to clean yourself due to whatever reason. Lack of resources, disabilities, maybe you just forgot, or maybe you just don’t care. It’s good to shower when you can so your hygiene doesn’t become the problem of other people.
Our bodies are made to grow hair. This includes hair in your pubic area and butt. Unless you don’t believe in consent and go around flashing people (bad, don’t do that please), your pubic hair really isn’t anyone’s problem. Commenting on someone’s pubic hair when you’re already in their pants is immature and rude. If you are shocked that they have growing by their genitals, you probably shouldn’t be having sex.
I get peeved the most when someone comments on another’s grooming habits when they do not practice grooming habits themselves. Also, if you DO engage in hair removal/grooming, you don’t get to shame someone for not spending time on their pubes. Basically, mind your business. Don’t have anything productive or useful to say? Don’t say it.
I’m not here to discourage you from hair removal if that’s what you want. It really just comes down to “if you want to shave, shave. If you don’t want to shave, don’t.” Don’t let anyone pressure you into shaving or not shaving if that’s not what you want. This is your body and you can do whatever the hell you want with it.
