E-sex and E-dating

So here’s the thing- as life gets increasingly more digital, so does love, and so does sex. Sometimes when one of you lives in New Jersey and one lives in BC, it’s not always feasible to get it on in person. So, we turn to approximations, where we can- the both beloved and beloathed e-sex. E-sex doesn’t have to be the cringe-inducing discord kitten fest that it’s gotten a reputation for- but it can frequently feel like it. So, here are some ways to have good e-sex that don’t make you feel like you’ve grown a fedora.
ASYNCHRONOUS PLAY
When people think of e-sex, their first thought is probably of two people moaning at each other over the phone. Which it can be sometimes! But something that’s equally as fun and can extend its shelf life is taking things into the realm of text and individual messages. I’m not talking about sexting, though that can be part of it. Sending videos and audio messages back and forth is a fun way to incorporate playtime with your partner into an otherwise busy day, allowing them to take the time they need to respond, and knowing that something is waiting for you the next time you open your phone. Pictures, videos, audio messages, and texts together can create an intricate web of sexuality that brings the ephemeral nature of long distance/the internet into your tangible life.
LONG DISTANCE TOYS
Many toys from Lovense or WeVibe come equipped with a long-distance control feature, so as long as the person wearing the toy is connected to it via Bluetooth, their partner can control the toy from anywhere in the world through the app. This is ideal if you’re looking to actually affect each other physically instead of just relying on the mental of it to get into the zone. Every time new sex toy technology emerges, we get one step closer to being connected in every way all the time. Sorry if that sounded kind of dystopian. It’s because it is. But! For now we get to reap the rewards, and bone down hard from hundreds of miles away.
