How to Prevent Infections

About infections...

My last post was about toy cleaning, and the importance of it. Sometimes, even with proper cleaning, there are still things that can cause yeast infections or UTIs. Today we’re talking about how to avoid a bad time in your vaginal environment.

I know body safe materials are more expensive, and we all have our budgets. In the long run I always recommend investing in a nice toy that won’t make your body ill. But I get it. Please, if you’re doing DIY toys or using a cheaper material, put a condom on it. The cheaper material is a synthetic rubber that, admittedly, has a nice texture and price point. The problem with TPR/cyberskin/jelly is the microscopic pores that bacteria like to live in. Regardless of how much care you take to clean, there are some areas that you just can’t get to.

Quick story. My friend came to me asking why her girlfriend kept getting UTIs. She told me she washed their dildo before and after every use and never shared it. I asked what her toy was made of. It was made of TPR. No amount of cleaning will get the bacteria out of the pores of plastic.

When pooping, we wipe front to back. This avoids putting foreign bacteria into your vaginal biome. Butt bacteria are good for the butt. However, it’s like an axe bomb when it goes into the front.

Same lesson goes for sex. Toys, fingers, a penis, whatever, should NEVER penetrate the anus and then move to the vagina. Either wash the butt bacteria object or switch out the butt condom for a fresh one. Condoms are not full proof, since they do not cover the entire length of whatever they’re on, so we still recommend taking caution.

Alternatively, you can have a designated anal toy that is intended for anal use only.

Like all our health-based articles, we have to say that WE ARE NOT MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS! We do have common sense and experience though. If you believe you may have something going on in your nether regions, go see a pharmacist or a doctor. If peeing hurts, go talk to a professional. If there is blood in your pee, please talk to a professional. If your body is being weird and you don’t know what the hell is happening, PLEASE go see a medical professional!

Peace and love!
